Get in Touch My StoryI'm Donnie Floyd, and I serve as the full-time chaplain for Hendrick Motorsports through Motor Racing Outreach. My mission is to help people navigate the storms of life and find purpose in every season of it.
I do that the same way anyone does: by listening first, caring for people honestly, and talking openly about what it looks like to follow God. Ultimately I want to help people come out of hard seasons better rather than bitter.
By most measures I'm a fairly ordinary guy, but the road here has been anything but ordinary — surviving a near-fatal motorcycle wreck, receiving a Tourette syndrome diagnosis at fourteen, and getting to witness things most people never will.
Reach Out
Eight years as an Air Force Security Forces peacekeeper took me around the world — two years in South Korea, time in Puerto Rico, and service in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War. Serving my country is still a deep source of pride.
That commitment to service carried into police work — patrol, street drugs, and later Vice/Narcotics investigation. Poverty, death, hatred, other cultures and languages, and the raw power of government reshaped how I see the world.
I joined the #5 team in 1999 and spent 17 seasons on pit support and race car production, part of 234 wins and 10 championships. Today I serve the same building as its chaplain.

Life inside the sport.
Military CareerI served eight years in U.S. Air Force Security Forces. The job is exactly what it sounds like: missile security, aircraft security, weapons security, base defense around the globe, and law enforcement on those bases.
Served 1988–1997 · Honorably discharged.
Motor Racing OutreachI serve at Hendrick Motorsports through Motor Racing Outreach. MRO exists to introduce the racing community to a biblical worldview, cultivate personal faith in Christ, and encourage growth in Christ-likeness.
MRO also supports involvement in the local church through chaplain relationships — pastoral care in stressful seasons, teaching from God's Word, and help developing leadership.

I'm an ordained minister with both Chaplain Fellowship Ministries International and Motor Racing Outreach, serving full-time as chaplain at Hendrick Motorsports.
My talks pull from a wide range of life — Gulf War veteran, Vice/Narcotics officer, and 17+ years on a NASCAR race team — to show how God orders our steps and uses us to advance His kingdom. Evangelism is what drives me: God wants to work through us right where we are.
I bring energy, perspective, humor, and complete transparency, because this generation deserves the truth of the gospel delivered straight. I speak at sporting arenas, concerts, churches, outreach gatherings, youth functions, action sports events, and racetracks.

Sooner or later we all end up around people who irritate us. The harder question is whether we irritate others. Sin has left this world full of difficult and negative people, and that leaves each of us with a decision: grin and bear it, or find the courage to live by grace.
Scripture shows us Jesus displaying grace at its fullest. We were sinners handed something we had not earned — His death on the cross paid the penalty we owed and brought us forgiveness.

Nearly everyone who believes in life after death expects to end up in heaven. At least the good people do.
God created all things and made men and women in His image. He gave them a garden, told them to enjoy it and multiply, and — so their will would be genuinely free — gave them one prohibition: don't eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, or you will surely die.
Eve was tempted by the serpent with the promise that the fruit would make her like God. When Adam and Eve disobeyed, sin entered a perfect creation and broke all of humanity with it.
Sin separates us from a holy God, who cannot be in the presence of it. Left to ourselves we go our own way and try to be our own god. No amount of good behavior earns God's favor, and the wages of that sin is death, judgment, and eternal separation from Him.
But God's love made a way. He chose Abraham and, through his offspring, entered the world as a man. Jesus taught, lived, and then gave His life on a cross — a blood sacrifice bearing the sin of humanity, once for all. He died, was buried, rose on the third day, and ascended to prepare a place for us.
We follow God's way by following His Word.
We are saved only by the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ. He made the way back into God's favor, and by His grace we are healed of the penalty of our sin. Trust God's plan, follow His Word, hold to His promises, and live the new life He gives.
I want to talk about thisIn professional racing I've been part of ten NASCAR championships. Standing on top with your team is the thing every professional chases, and reaching that summit really is magical — for a season, you know you were the best.
But the cheering stops and the euphoria drains out. You want more, and you already know the next win will fade the same way. Life goes back to normal. That's where the real question shows up: what do you chase after you've reached the peak ten times? For me the answer became obvious — only God fills that space. Trophies are temporary. God's Word lasts.
Winning is incredible. I've been part of an organization with 322 victories and was there for 234 of them. The chase is rewarding and demanding, and above all it teaches you who you are. But it's easy to let the chase become your identity, and when it does, you lose your purpose. God built us for His plans — line up with those and you become a champion for Christ.
Not every message is comfortable. Some are necessary anyway.
JH Fellowship LunchI have the privilege of leading the John Hendrick Fellowship Lunch at Hendrick Motorsports.
It started more than 25 years ago as a modest Bible study. Today more than 140 employees gather for fellowship, share a lunch, and hear a short message from God's Word aimed squarely at the things real life throws at us.

Wedding OfficiantCongratulations on your engagement. One of the first real decisions in planning a wedding is who will officiate it.
If you already have a pastor, the choice is easy. If you don't, it gets murky — and a lot of couples end up asking a friend or family member to grab an online ordination certificate to make things legal.
From a Christian perspective, an online ordination isn't a biblical ordination. It may carry legal standing in some places, but it confers no spiritual authority and has no grounding in Scripture.
I'm a fully ordained minister, credentialed in North Carolina and Virginia through Chaplain Fellowship Ministries International and Motor Racing Outreach. It's a joy to marry couples in a ceremony that is legally sound, biblically faithful, and God-honoring.
